MICHAELA O'SHAUGHNESSY

I'm Michaela, a 25-year-old fashion blogger originally from Ireland now living in New York City. I work as a Social Media Producer by day and run a fashion & lifestyle blog (Life of a Lady Bear) by night. I love to share my outfits, my New York recommendations, and career advice on my blog...basically anything that someone in a similar position to myself would appreciate.

Q & A

How would you describe your style?

I would say my style is quite classic with a lot of monochrome.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I actually find that dissecting the trends post-fashion week is the most inspiring way to think of new styles to try. I also work at a fashion publication, so seeing the editors and stylists constantly push the boundaries with their style really inspires me to think outside the box from time to time.

What's your favorite dress in our spring collection?

I love the Ramona Wrap Dress because I think it would work as well in the winter (with some tights) as it would in the spring or summer. It's a great dress to bring you from work to evening activities!

If you could live the rest of your life in any silhouette, which would it be?

Definitely an a-line dress. I have quite a curvy shape, so having something accentuate my waist and float over my hips is the most flattering cut for me!

What's the best style advice you've ever received?

The best style advice I've ever received is to build a capsule wardrobe of pieces that you can wear again and again in different ways.

Florals, solids or prints?

Personally I love solids, but for spring I love to incorporate some florals into my wardrobe.

What is your favorite thing about New York City in the spring?

Without a doubt, my favorite thing about spring in New York is seeing all of the flowers start bloom around the city! It's like the entire city comes alive again in the spring. I love seeing the tulips bloom along Park Ave and the beautiful colored hydrangeas in the flower boxes on the Upper East Side.

What is your current job?

Currently, I work as the Social Media Producer at Teen Vogue. I run the brand's visual accounts like Instagram and Snapchat.

What was your first job?

My first proper job was working with MTV as their Social Producer. It was literally a dream job and I had so many wonderful opportunities to learn about everything social media related there.

What do you love most about your job?

Without a doubt, my coworkers are the best thing about my job. I work with some of the brightest, most creative people in the industry who always inspire me to be the best I can be! Having nice coworkers makes those long days all the little bit easier!

What are your favorite places to unwind after work?

My go-to place after work every single night is Central Park. I'm very lucky to live just 10 minutes away from the park so I always make an effort to wind down there most nights.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

The best advice I've ever received is definitely never to settle. If you have a dream job, them pursue it with every ounce of your energy. I would also say that everything happens for a reason. If for some reason the opportunity didn't go your way, have faith that it's because something bigger is around the corner for you.
