DANA MANNARINO

Meet Dana: your typical 20-something-year-old born and raised New Yorker. By day, she works as a merchandiser to oversee design and development functions for a menswear brand. By night, she creates content for Pink Champagne Problems: a fashion, lifestyle and travel blog (which actually started out as a hobby in 2012). Pink Champagne Problems aims to inspire women by mixing high and low fashions, traveling the world, and sharing what life is like in New York City.

Q & A

How would you describe your style?

My style is really all over the place. One day I'll be preppy and one day I'll be edgy...But I think that's what's so great about my personal style: I have so many different pieces that it's fun to see how I can wear them together!

What's the best style advice you've ever received?

In college, one of my best friends worked for J. Crew and told me about their "three piece rule." Basically, they had to wear three pieces (top, blazer/cardigan, and bottom, etc.). From them on, I've always tried to consider the "three piece rule" when it comes to my own personal style. This way of thinking allows for more fun and unique looks (i.e. layering dresses over shirts).

Florals, solids or prints?

Florals (For spring? Groundbreaking).

What's your favorite dress in our spring collection?

I'm super into culottes, jumpsuits and cold shoulders...so the Fiona is absolutely perfect for me.

What is your favorite thing about New York City in the spring?

Rooftop happy hours!

What are your favorite places in the city?

Oh man, this is tough. The Plaza is so cliche, but honestly, it's my favorite place in New York City...I've had some of the best memories there! I love going out on the Lower East Side with my best friends, Calexico for amazing happy hour margaritas, San Marzano in the East Village for a pasta-filled date night, and Flatiron for shopping (and SoulCycle).

What's your favorite New York memory?

Every year around Christmas, my dad would take my sister and me out with two of his co-workers and their kids. We would spend the entire day in the city...breakfast at The Plaza, iceskating in Central Park, and then a shopping spree at FAO Schwartz. Those are some of my BEST memories growing up in the city.

Q & A

What is your favorite thing about New York City in the spring?

Putting away my heavy coats and snow boots! The flowering trees in Central Park are magnificent.

What are your favorite places in the city?

I love visiting new neighborhoods. The Village never disappoints. I also love Central Park...I've lived in NYC for 35 years and I still find surprises in the park.

What's your go-to dress for date night?

Even at my age I do love to look and feel sexy. I'm not opposed to clothes that fit snug and show off my figure, and a great pair of heels always top off a sexy look! I'm also loving my over-the-knee boots with tight fitting faded jeans. They got a lot of wear this past winter.

How do you take a dress from day to night?

For me, it's about adding some sparkle with jewelry and a pair of heels and a darker lip shade. Takes about 5 minutes.

What’s your morning routine?

Caffeine, caffeine caffeine...and a hard core gym class or spin.

What’s your advice on having a successful relationship?

Be honest and sincere. Be kind and respectful. Be sure to compromise. Take constructive criticism to heart and don't be overly critical of your partner. Don't play games.

What makes you feel beautiful?

I feel pretty terrific after a good night's sleep. I feel beautiful wearing a new outfit or a cool trendy outfit, feeling confident and walking down the streets of New York catching glimpses of people checking me out. And a stranger's smile always makes my day.
