Meet the Bosses: Introducing Lissette
To celebrate Boss’s Day 2018, we decided to introduce you to the bosses we know best. Stay tuned all week as we introduce you to seven (yes, seven) women who run the show right here in our own company — the women behind the clothing you love.
Introducing Lissette, Head of Costing
Meet our Head of Costing, Lissette! Born in the Dominican Republic, Lissette moved to the US at the age of 15. When she’s not at work, you can find her spending time with her family, engaging with her church, and giving back to her community.

WHAT IS YOUR JOB TITLE?
Head of Costing
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE?
A typical day: My days start very early — as every mother’s does — by getting my boys ready for school. From there, I continue on to my day at work. Once I’m in the office, I allocate myself and my team to the various seasonal costing for all divisions, working very closely with designers, our production team, and various factories in order to ensure that we are maintaining the best pricing for our garments.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER (SO FAR)?
I started my career at Maggy London in an entry level position and have now grown into a management position where I report directly to the owner of the company. This has been very rewarding for me!
TELL US ABOUT A TIME YOU OVERCAME A CHALLENGE IN THE WORKPLACE.
Working in the garment industry, we’re always faced with finding the best of the best. I have overcome these challenges by consistently negotiating with individuals (who usually won’t budge on prices) until we’re able to compromise in a way that leaves everyone feeling comfortable with the end result.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR A FELLOW CAREER WOMAN WHO MIGHT BE READING THIS?
My advice for all women: Stand strong, continue to push forward, and always follow your instincts. Never accept “NO” as an answer. Keep negotiating.
